The Marvels of Rome For The Macintosh(R)
ISBN: 0-934977-35-6
Italica Press - $30.00
This Edition of The Marvels of Rome is the first of a series of books on disk from Italica. "Rome on Disk" is published in the HyperCard(R) format for all Macintoshes, including PowerBooks(R).
This electronic edition includes all the original materials of the paperback edition but adds many new features, including modern b&w photos, building plans, and Renaissance city views that both illustrate the text and serve as an electronic guide to its history and monuments.
The Marvels of Rome for the Macintosh(R) has the look and feel of a traditional book: attractive type and layout, two-page spreads and turning pages. It also takes full advantage of HyperCard's(R) ability to move seamlessly from text to maps, from symbols on maps to glossary entries, photos, drawings, floor plans, to bibliography, at the click of the mouse, in any number of ways.
This is the first edition of what will become an electronic encyclopedia of medieval Rome, full of images, location guides, and reference articles.
"... My favorite among the new architecture databases [is the] Marvels of Rome. Most of the monuments in this quixotic compendium no longer exist. Nevertheless, here they are, with exhaustive historical descriptions and Latin odes to bygone ages.... Today it comes to us as a guide for the wanderer with a PowerBook."
